it's the sound of the lost gone found

You know how I said I probably wouldn't post again until after the semester? I'm surprising myself! Here I am, writing you. The apartment looks like a whirlwind came crashing through the rooms; my mascara from the day before is smeared under my eyes; and I have a lot to get done this weekend. Here's to hoping everything will work itself out (and I'll be productive after a week of ridiculous expectations). Over Thanksgiving break, I plan on posting about Women of Faith, my brother going into the MTC, and me baking my first pie. I'll be sure to have my camera at the ready. :) Today's gonna be a good day. Also, Alison Sudol is ADORABLE. So excited to see and hear new things from her.

LUDO, dinosaurs, and rubber ducks

FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES. Done. Complete. Annihilated. Owned. Awesome.

The first couple of weeks are gonna be the calm before the storm. Auditions and hopeful acting possibilities, potential writing projects, helping out backstage for an opera and a romantic comedy, performance groups for class, and TA awesomeness on the agenda for later in the semester. Gonna be all over the place with theatre, but man, I've missed it. It just feels so GOOD. Like I'm light, walking on my tip toes, my fingertips tingling. A very wonderful high (I've never been intoxicated, haha thank goodness, but I think this is what it'd feel like). Like I'm way too lucky to deserve the life I'm living at the moment. Theatre, husband, school, Ludo, dinosaurs, red lipstick. Yup. All set.

Please.
You'll thank me later.
:]

I came home from a full day of classes (9am-5pm) to find our apartment cleaned upside down, sideways, twisty turvy, all over, awesome! Zac also filled up our bathroom sink for my rubber duck. :] He was worried the water would drain before I got home. How adorable is that?!? Goodness.

good night, tuesday

Today shall go down in history.
My first ever hair tutorial, perfect for the summer!
I thought I'd get a haircut today, but alas, due to Pioneer Day, all the salons I'd looked at were closed.
Kinda a bummer.
But then I took a nap, calmed down, and decided to do a hair tutorial.
A lot of people liked how my hair looked in this post, so I thought I'd share how to do it! Super easy and super pretty. :) My kinda girlishness.
Now let's get real.

1. Separate your hair in two sections.
(Note: I used day old hair. My hair needs to be a little greasy for it to stick. haha ><)

2. Separate one section of hair into two sections.
3. Twist the sections around up the side of your pretty little head.
4. Pin in place.

Yup. That just happened.

5. Repeat on the other side of your pretty little head.

6. Secure in place with more bobbie pins.
7. Tuck away any fly aways and smooth a little hairspray over the not so smooth places.

bookworming and music madness

What I'm Reading...
I just finished reading this AMAZING book at 4 am this morning:
"Dead Iron" by Devon Monk

I ate this book up, man.
Honestly, I've never read anything like it; it was so wonderful breaking free and reading something that challenged me.
The time period and focus of the book is something I've never really had an interest in, but after reading "Dead Iron," I can't wait for the sequel!
Tim, Emily's HUSBAND (:]), lent me the book about a week and a half ago. It took me a while to really get into the book because it's set in the Old West time period and very much attentive to gears, steam, and mechanics. But there's MAGIC and LOVE and FOLKLORE and EVIL.
Paint my wagon!
Now I'm looking for another book to escape into...I have been reading Harry Potter fanfiction a lot this break...><...
Any suggestions would be great!

What I'm Listening To...
We Are Young by Fun

Now I'm gonna be honest...I heard this first on Glee.
><
I don't really listen to the radio anymore...I'll blame it on not having a car...or a social life...or any life...
hahaha
Anyway.
I love this song and kind of feel like dancing...
Tonight we are young.
So let's set the world on fire.
We can burn brighter.
Than the sun.

study.break.

I've decided to start writing more by hand in my long forgotten journal.
It's been gaining dust on our bookshelf for a while now and it's so sad.
I wrote by hand the other night and it was sublime.
So I think from here on out, I'll post online with Good News//Not So Good News...and whatever else tickles my fancy?
Yeah, sounds good to me.
haha

//Good News\\
I got a $1140 scholarship from BYU!
I had quite the successful audition Monday night...no callback yet, but if I don't get it, no worries.
Zac and I got a free tv...Zac's been reunited with his video games and he's quite the happy dude.
I played Super Mario Kart for the first time in a decade Monday night and IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. Wow! My inner nerd came out and it was just fantastic.
I got a 90 on my 8 page lit paper.
Zac and I made homemade chicken alfredo last night! Super delicious.
Emily and Tim are getting married on SATURDAY! FREAKOUTHAPPYINTHEFACEEXPLOSION!
"I got a scholarship!"

I love you, Panda.

You wish you could do this, don't you? :]
//Not So Good News\\
My skin hates this Utah weather...acne and dry skin all over the place.
Stress to the max with finals.
I've eaten so much chocolate lately...it's kind of embarrassing.

Anywho, with finals all this week, I needed a break and found it through my Ludo Playlist on Pandora.
Oh, thank the Heavens.
First song:
"Look What You've Done" by Jet
This video scared the dickens out of me as a middle schooler...
I wasn't sure if I was brave enough to post it...but here we go!
*Holds breath*
I DID IT.
I need a pat on the back, methinks.
Second Song:
"Naked As We Came" by Iron & Wine
Odd, a very personal song from the past.
Whoa, you get a treat!

Third Song:
"Good Will Hunting By Myself" by Ludo
OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS.
Easily one of my favorite videos and songs of all time.
Ludo seriously is my favorite band.
Check them out and find out what true happiness is!
:]

Fourth Song:
"Blurry" by Puddle of Mud
Gosh, this playlist is just too good.
I love this song and all that it brings back from Memory Lane...Mmm

Last Song (I promise):
"Believe" by The Bravery
Om nom nom.

bookworming and other miscellaneousness

What I'm reading...
Still trucking along with "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close."
Currently on page 208 and reading through 261 tonight for hw.
We discussed a particular passage from the reading today in my lit class.
We applied the idea Bush coined, "The Axis of Evil," to Oskar seeing similarities in his opening night audience of Hamlet; most of the audience shares the last name Black.
It was a very interesting conversation, one that I didn't want to end.

This is a collection of short stories written by Stephen King, obviously.
My mother purchased this book for me when we were on a long trip...possibly to Branson? Or maybe Colorado?
I finished "Gingerbread Girl" on Sunday night for the second time.
Now I'm onto "Ayana."

What I'm listening to...
"Sophia" by Laura Marling

First ever outfit post!

My awesome sweater vest came from DI.
My mother made my skirt.

bookworm extravaganza and music madness monday

What I'm reading...

I started reading "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer last night for my Fund. Lit. class with the sole intention of completing the homework assignment (pages 1-75).
...It went so quick and earlier this afternoon, I found myself on page 110.
I'm enjoying this book more than words can express. The writing is so poignant and mesmerizing. I haven't read a book this good in while and it feels amazing. Even though I'm reading it for class, it doesn't feel like I'm dragging myself through it or annoyed in the least.
Well, I may be a little annoyed because my writing is so inadequate compared to his.
><
Haha.

I actually read this book (Reader's Digest version) back in April, but picked it up again last night.
My grandmother sat me down in her small but beautiful house in Arizona one afternoon after lunch.
She asked me what kinds of stories I enjoy reading.
"Anything with mystery and attention to detail. It may be nice to have some love in there, too..."
She laughed and told me I could have one of her Reader's Digest collection of stories.
In that collection was "The Girl Who Chased the Moon" by Sarah Addison Allen.
She said it was perfect for me.
I went home and devoured it...When I'd come up for air, I couldn't breathe. It was that good.
I'll probably be taking it with me on the trip out to Colorado on Tuesday...Long bus ride=grumpy Chelsea.
I love forgetting about a book for a while, then opening it up again, and finding out why I loved it the first time.

What I'm listening to...

"Lost Things" by A Fine Frenzy.

I just found this literally 5 minutes ago.
I am speechless.
So beautiful.

I wish I had her hair.
Zac probably doesn't.
:]
